Silos of the Bridgeport Mill

Painting Description

Several years after I left art college in 1966, I did a painting of this mill. At that time the mill was still operating. Although the glory years of this mill were before my time, I was fortunate to catch the end of an era. Several years after the early version, the mill building burned down leaving only the trunks of the silos standing. I recorded the remaining hulk in 1987. As I stood there painting, people stopped and asked why I would paint such a sorry sight, but I remembered better days. See Image # P0495 Bridgeport Mill. Plein air.
