Weekend vibes and a touch of whimsy for your Saturday morning...

When I found @crownlinendesigns as a potential resource for beautiful tabletop and bed linens for my client projects I decided to treat myself and order some of their apparel too!!

Willow generously helped me style this shot to showcase some of my new wardrobe... I’ll link to the pieces in my stories in case you want to see the pieces closeup and have a look for yourself.

*Full disclosure...I’ve been speaking with Victoria the owner at Crown Linen Designs about working/collaborating with them and she has sent me some beautiful product as a gift which I will show you soon but these pieces I am showing today I did purchase with the exception of the Maya top which was gifted.

With a few sips of coffee making its way into my system I headed out to water the front urns... our resident chipmunk Sir Charles was waiting on the steps to wish me a pleasant Sunday morning. We didn’t have a long chat due to the impromptu appearance of Ty...
so wrapping up... Sir Charles is under the steps chattering away, the urns have been given due attention, my coffee has been consumed and Ty has properly greeted the morning.

Let’s chat about outdoor rooms...
I’ve had some questions about our porch and how it is set up so I thought I would post about it. We created a corner bench with lots of cushions to maximize seating while keeping good traffic flow. The ottoman is on casters and can be moved out of the way or snugged right up against the bench to act as a chaise. We can also move the ottoman out and bring in a table for additional dining seating.
I used the same outdoor striped fabric seen here ( pattern is called creek, available to the trade through @jffabrics ) on all the Roman blinds on the main floor of the house. It brings a subconscious connection from the inside spaces to the outside spaces.
We spend a ton of time out here and this corner bench is one of my favourite places to perch and watch the world go by. If you have been following along here you will also know that it is Ty’s favourite nap spot too!!

Our lives are like stories... everything that we e

Our lives are like stories... everything that we experience becomes a thread woven into that story.
In my design work I always like to create an environment that reflects and enhances the lives and the stories of my clients.
This photo of our upstairs hallways shows a few very important threads in the story of our lives.
Do you see the jaunty hat on the bench? I bought that hat when I was 20 years old.
My parents and I took a trip to England that spring. A stop in at Harrods had me falling in love with this gorgeous (and impractical to travel with) straw hat and I just had to have it!!
You should have seen me on the plane home... it sat on my lap the entire flight ( obviously I wasn’t going to risk it being crushed... comfort be dammed!) Well, I still love and wear it and every time I do, I am reminded of that blissful moment seeing it on the display.
Another thread in this view is the painting.
It is titled “ On Our Wedding Day” and was painted by my uncle @peter_etril_snyder_art
Kent and I posed for it the year after we were married. Pete even asked me to wear my wedding dress which gave me a reason to play Princess Di ( yes, her influence on my young life was huge)
This image became a very popular print in the years that followed. My parents purchased the original painting and it was a treasured backdrop of their home. They gifted it to Kent and I on our 25th anniversary and it is now a treasured part of our home.
Yes... threads weave the tapestry that tells the story.
When I walk around this property I am always struck by the history. We are now part of that history and that makes my heart happy.
