Late January Afternoon
Painting Description
Cutting down a large stand of trees was just the start of a two-year program to build a new farmstead high above the Conestogo River near Wallenstein. Dragging logs, even small ones, out of the bush requires a good teamster and a willing team. Because of the many chances of catching branches and sawn limbs, it is necessary to create great momentum. This painting opens from the same lucky occurrence as Burning Brush, Image #1646.
