Painting Description

When I first started painting country life twenty years ago, I often overlooked the small personal moments, bowled over by the big exciting action. Possibly as a function of age, I now find myself drawn to all sorts of subtle subjects, small bits of human drama. In this painting, I am trying to display the eagerness of the young workers to get on with the job.
