Painting Description
So much of the influence in my life comes from people who own my work. Paintings that I create form the basis for an ongoing relationship. In 1982 I painted a suite of paintings for an oil company in Alberta. The president of this company owns a wonderful modern house in Windermere, B.C. and invited us to use this extraordinary building that is poised on the side of a mountain looking over Lake Windermere near the Alberta B.C. border. I hasten to add that this decrepit log barn in the painting is not his house, but rather a trace of settlement from one hundred years ago. From this base we toured around that area. I painted a number of things that week, and took many photos for future fodder. I have returned to those photos a number of times as the foundation for a painting. This acrylic is an example.
