Painting Description

This pretty chateau is set against the backdrop of a village and monastery in the Aquitaine region of France.

This view is potentially a very busy subject but what struck me most was the clean clear lines of the chateau in the foreground. I must admit that I toyed with the idea of focusing on the hilltop monastery but in the end decided to try this approach. I may return someday to this photo and take a different approach. For me there is no deep reasoning to what I paint but rather is governed by my whim. I do this for fun.
