Late Saturday Afternoon

Painting Description

Subtle areas of colour are enlivened by shafts of late afternoon light. Mauves and pinks meld into blues and grays.

The photo which is the starting point for this painting sat in my files for almost 10 years. From time to time I comb through my files trolling for a lost nugget. This small stream that crosses under Wellington Road 22 is one that I always enjoy observing as we drive from Waterloo to friends in Alton. I believe that one of the things that separate the artist from the rest of the world is the openness to see the everyday vistas.
