Around the Bend
Painting Description
This small bit of landscape is located just east of Hawkesville near the low bridge built by the Mennonite farmers as a shortcut across the Conestogo River. I was attracted to the light piercing the trees and the multiple patterns of shadows as the trees moved in the breeze down by the river. I spend a lot of time just driving aimlessly through Mennonite country enjoying the constant yet changing patterns and rhythms of this area.
I vary my approach to painting so this loose piece stands at the end of my approach. It is not that I favour one over the other but rather feel that the subject should dictate the approach. I realize that sounds a bit Zen but that is my personal approach.
