Walking Home with My Girls
Painting Description
Sparked by a photo of 1906, I added various features that might have been in this village near Midhurst, Kent. I think it important to include village activity, so this piece does not become a frozen depiction of a village but rather a lively on-going affair. Because an English village like this develops over many years, a great variety of building styles is evident. The village of Cocking is still recognizable today and located on the Cowdray Estate.
