Painting Description

This pretty view provided a wonderful chance to paint on the street, but the people who gathered around me to watch the painting develop were somewhat difficult. One of the on-lookers, who had been raised in this elegant part of the French town, was distressed that commercial concerns were moving into the area—so much so that she tried to scratch out the optometrist’s sign, the blue glasses, from my painting as I started to fold up my gear.
