Two Women on the Sleigh

Painting Description

I have been visiting this particular bush for over thirty years. It is so interesting to watch the successive generation take over and work these traditional tasks. The young women that I show in this piece are now married with small children and no longer working in the bush during sugaring season. In a few years after the babies have grown a bit, these women will be back to their earlier tasks which they do enjoy so much. Sugaring is one of the few outdoor activities where the Mennonite women work alongside the men.
