Painting Description

Located on the Saone River in southern Burgundy, Tournus is a painter’s dream. The old town is a collection of houses and shops jumbled together by the vagaries of time. Local sandstone is the popular building material today, just as it was for many hundreds of years. Strangely many of our canal boat group ended up in this very square. It is so pretty, but there are hundreds of other scenes in this ancient city just as charming and romantic.
