Working with four horses requires much co-operation for the horses to achieve an even pull. As with much work on an old-time farm, this process is as much art as science. Many skills needed demand intuition as well as a good deal of knowledge. Some people are natural horsemen, while others struggle to coax performance from a team, especially from a large team such as this.
