Sugar Shanty at Rest
Painting Description
In a clearing in the sugar bush, lighted by the sun, this sugar shanty near Crosshill waits patiently for next year. A small woodpile occupies one corner.
Exploring the sugar bush in off season reveals many lovely quiet scenes. I am so absorbed with the activity during sugaring season that I don’t look enough at the setting, the bush itself and the buildings.
