Stone Arches

Painting Description

We first discovered the village of East Leach many years ago when we rented a converted granary in the close-by village of Shilton. This area near Burford is very attractive with many Cotswold stone houses, bridges and barns. Wool production made this area very wealthy in the time before the industrial revolution. Now most farms are mixed— livestock and grain— and the many beautiful houses are either bedroom homes for Oxford or vacation homes. Whenever we return to the Cotswolds, we make a special trip to visit this village tucked off the main roads.
