Stinsford Hill
Painting Description
This is the sort of view that draws me to England. Just off the A35 in Dorset, this is typical of the rolling countryside in the south of Dorset near the coast. This is farming country, the setting for Thomas Hardy’s books.
We passed this spot quite often in the week that we spent near Bridport. In the neighbourhood was Poundsbury, the new town that Prince Charles built in imitation of an old town in this area. The work was successful as we had a most difficult time finding it, thinking that we were seeing an old town.
