Still Green Inside the Woods

Painting Description

After all these years of painting Mennonite Country, I am still intrigued by the surprises that present themselves. In this case, visiting this sugar bush in the autumn made me notice how the seasons inside the area of a woodlot seem to be just slightly behind the surrounding area. The trees in this case are still green within while autumn colour has tipped the leaves. In the spring, winter lingers slightly longer in this enclosed space while the spring sun warms the farmland around the bush. I never find that the country is old hat to me. Each season there are new aspects to enjoy.
