Spring Musical
Painting Description
My two years with the Grand River Conservation Foundation introduced me to many sights along the river. In this painting, a man plays a trumpet as he sits on a back porch enjoying the view. How many interesting landscapes are created by the backs of old buildings along a river course. Often the fronts of these buildings have been “improved” but the rear sections stay the way they were. I find these backyard views so much more interesting. Often it is possible to read the history of the buildings in their river-view side. These stores are great examples of Queen Anne front but Mary Anne back.
