Spring Clearing
Painting Description
Spring slashing of the brush along a country track presented an atmospheric subject.
Not only is the subject of this painting unusual for me, but also the lighting. I am normally drawn to direct light effects of the more dramatic sort. This moody scene is very subtle in colouring which reminds me a little of the paintings of the Hudson River School of the mid-1800s.
