Painting Description

A spillway is part of the water control system in a woodlands in Britain.

This is a design piece using a background of light burnt sienna to show through. A simple composition adapts very well to this approach. A favourite British artist, Susan Ryder, uses this technique although her ground of choice is a warm grey.
