Sissinghurst Cistern

Painting Description

This lead flower box sits in the garden at Sissinghurst. Obviously at one point many years ago, it served as a water container, possibly as an overflow fixture. I felt that the interplay of the brick, the lead vessel and the greenery worked well together. When I determine what I want to paint, it is a chance glance at some insignificant view or subject that beckons me. For me there is no great logic in my choices but rather emotion based on aesthetics.
