Road through Freshford
Painting Description
Can you tell that I am attracted by stone buildings? The variety of the size, colour and type of stone in both buildings and walls speaks of the construction tradition near Bath, England. Freshford is built on several steep hills and is sliced by narrow, twisting roads that try to find the best route through this picturesque landscape. We rented a small house attached to the old brewery, the former house of the brewery’s manager. This house at the top of a suicidally steep hill contained three floors with one room per floor. How they got the furniture to the third floor defies imagination but that room did provide pretty views in every direction including this one.
