River Mist, Three Bridges

Painting Description

This pastoral setting reminds me of the type of subjects that Homer Watson pictured a hundred years ago. He had, right at his elbow, virgin forest. I am not so lucky. I must really search to find wide landscape that is not punctuated with farms or houses. This early autumn morning has the mist that somehow suggests to me the historic character of this stretch of the Conestogo River.
