Painting Description

I based this historical work on photos that I gathered at Black Creek Pioneer Village and at Upper Canada Pioneer Village. I often snatch a piece of landscape, such as the mill in the background, and build out from that starting point. By bringing elements from a number of sources I am able to construct a dramatic tableau. I feel that within one painting I can create a storyline that lets the viewer become involved in a continuing narrative.
