Repair in the Woodlot

Painting Description

When disaster struck in the bush, these young Mennonite farmers improvised. The wagon tongue broke as they attempted to move the load, so they set to shaping a new one right there on the spot. This ingenuity is typical of the “plain people”. It is not unusual to spot a piece of machinery in the field that has been cobbled together from several sources. The farm shops and business also back up this idea of “make do or make better”.
