Painting Description

We had rented a house next door in the charming and over-run town of Chipping Campden and were fortunate enough to look into a private garden with its antique pump. The British are more private than North Americans and often reserve for themselves the most attractive spaces. The combination of multiple architecture styles along with overflowing floral borders defines English garden style to me. I was amused to see this old pump as a garden ornament, just like many still in use on Mennonite farms here at home.
