Ploughing Near the Creek

Painting Description

I designed this work to include many of the elements that combine to make an ideal fall painting of Mennonite Country. The riding plough that the young farmer uses has had alteration that includes the bucket seat from a car. This innovation is now common among the David Martin group. I also feature a rail fence as an acknowledgement of the past, but the truth is that a wooden fence like this is increasingly hard to find on Mennonite farms.
