Oak Creek Study
Painting Description
Oak Creek flows through Sedona, Arizona. This wintery study is in preparation for a larger piece in which the commissioner, a friend, wanted a cardinal and a heron.
One of two studies, see Blair Bridge Study, this was a suggestion for a friend who had spent time in the Red Rock country of Arizona. I find it useful for me and for the customer to explore ideas in a study form. This approach clarifies ideas. Clearly sometimes a study is the bridesmaid and not the bride. I am not at all bothered by that as on occasion I decide to do a more extended version of the study.
