Painting Description
This harvest scene in David B. Martin country near Hawkesville is a great example of the changing agricultural approach. Even though the harvesting of grain is done the old fashioned way, the new loafing barn indicates a more modern approach to farming. A loafing barn is an open area barn where the cattle are loose, not standing in stalls. It is commonly used for beef cattle or young dairy animals.
