Meeting on the Road
Painting Description
This is a broad brush handling of a neighbourly meeting. In the early days, I painted from a design standpoint more than from an incident-based point of view. It is not uncommon for a young artist to start off in this idealistic sort of way.
The cutter on the right could be a home-made hybrid affair of a cutter and sleigh. The difference is the width of the runner with cutters having a narrow runner. The cutter also has a fixed runner while a sleigh normally had an articulating runner for easier turning.
