This market scene was painted as a remembrance for a man who had a stall at this very market. In his brief he was very particular to have certain individuals included. It is not unusual for me to receive commissions that relate to someone's past, recent or distant. In this case, I was able to take the photographs myself from which I could work. I am not always that fortunate. Often the photographic information available to me is somewhat sketchy.
