Manor House, Shilton
Painting Description
An aqueous treatment of this Cotswold stone house seemed the right approach to capture the storybook quality that I sought. Shilton is an attractive small village near Burford that has only one drawback. It is on the flight path to Brize-Norton and so receives a great many screeching slashes as planes land at that military base. Even the air traffic is not enough to quell my enthusiasm for this delightful place that was our home for one week. Several other paintings of mine sprang from this hamlet. See: Doorway of Home in Shilton, Image #0026; Church Cottage, Shilton, Cotswolds, Image #0660 and Patterns in Mellow-Coloured Stone, Image #0188.
