Looking Up
Painting Description
This bearded man checks out the sky at the annual Amish Auction.
Although many people think of Mennonite men wearing beards, save for one small group, it is the Amish who claim that. Only a man who has fathered children can wear a beard which is a sign of virility. Note that none of the conservative Mennonites or Amish wear a mustache.
