Late Garden Produce
Painting Description
I was fortunate to happen upon this scene just west of Hawkesville. The tidying of the garden at the end of the growing season is both joyous and sad. Working with the children’s pony and a small homemade cart, this lady was singing to herself as she cut the last of the garden crops from their settings. As often happens, my interest in this mundane task produced an amused reaction from this Mennonite woman. She was quite surprised that anyone would have the slightest interest in her task.
