Land Clearing Near the Mill
Painting Description
This historic re-creation emerges from a number of archival photos as well as photos of the mill at Black Creek Pioneer Village. In the background is Roblin’s Mill with its overshot mill wheel. This 5-storey stone building is powered entirely by the large wooden waterwheel. Its power operates a variety of mill machinery including the stones to grind the wheat, the bolting reels for sifting the flour and the elevator belts to move the grain and flour from start to finish.
