Just Three of the Kids
Painting Description
Large families are still common in the Mennonite community. These children are from a family of nine. These three kids come from a conservative family, but one that is relaxing the dress code somewhat. I find it interesting how the traditional kerchiefs and aprons are mixed with the brighter more highly coloured ski jackets. I am sure in this generation that family will leave the Old Order Mennonite group and join the Waterloo-Markham group. Both these groups use the “white churches” but on alternating Sundays.
