Isle of Quinte
Painting Description
Not all painting trips for me include exotic sites. This splash of colour was painted plein air at a guest house on a relaxed week-long painting safari in deepest, darkest Eastern Ontario. We took seven days to drive from Waterloo to Ottawa following small rivers, visiting historic places and tracking down restaurants from “Where to Eat in Canada”. The alla prima approach, the one shot idea, is made much easier by the use of painting panels primed in various flavours of gray, green, brown or pale blue. In this case I painted on a gray-brown panel that is still visible here and there.
