Painting Description

The historic village green that pastured sheep and cattle has changed its use now of course. It is fortuitous however that most village greens, being common land have remained undeveloped. These patches of green, sometimes with a pond, add a softness to any village. I’m sorry that here in Canada we do not have such a park in the middle of each neighbourhood. I”ve always been amazed that New York City had the foresight to preserve Central Park a huge village green right there in the centre of Manhatten.
