Horse Trainer
Painting Description
In this painting I wanted to show daily life in a Mennonite neighbourhood. The mother with her small daughter stops to chat with a horse that stands in the trainer. The trainer is a frame that is placed near the road to condition the animal to traffic noise. By doing this, the horse is not frightened when driven in traffic. Across the country road stands a colourful traditional Mennonite farmhouse with its several additions. Several buggies stand by the side of the house. The young cattle in the field and horse and buggy on the road fill out this fully packed spring scene.
