Hill View, East Leach
Painting Description
I realize that taste is very personal so when I say that East Leach is one of the prettiest villages in England I must confess that this is my point of view, although this attitude is shared by many. This small village, only four miles from Lechlade, straddles the River Leach. The terrain of the village is hilly and allows for pretty views with the mellow Gloucester stone buildings adding punctuation to a garden of green effect. The houses are generously spaced, not crammed together. Few experiences can equal the view from the hill looking toward the ancient church on a warm summer evening.
