Hawkesville Haying (Study 2)
Painting Description
This painting that I set just west of Hawkesville shows one of the few activities in which Mennonite women work in the field. Although this is not a rule, only when there are not enough men available are young women, even children, used to drive the horses. This is quite different from the Amish culture where women often help with field work. See The Sisterhood, Image # 0472.
*This original was part of a large group of paintings donated by the artist to Grand River Hospital in 2012. To see paintings donated: GRHDONATION.
