Grooming the Horse, Charlevoix Region, Quebec
Painting Description
This semi-mountainous region borders the St. Lawrence River starting just northeast of Quebec City. It is easy to see why A.Y. Jackson and others of the “Group of Seven” were so keen to paint this area. Strung out like wash on a line, these small villages hug the St. Lawrence. I find the rugged rural quality of this landscape powerful and exciting. What a strong contrast these farms offer to the Mennonite homesteads of Waterloo.
