Griffith Island lies some 5 kilometers offshore at Big Bay and is easily visible from the Bruce Trail at Dodd's Hill and Skinner's Bluff. This landmark lighthouse was part of a set of five paintings commissioned by a member of the sporting club that owns this island in Georgian Bay not far from Owen Sound, Ontario. The lighthouse is in very good condition and is still a working lighthouse. Nearby, the lighthouse keeper's house has been abandoned for some time. Roofless and open to the elements, it is a nostalgic insight into an era now gone.
