Painting Description

The autumn sun brings out all the subtle colour of the exposed gravel in this country operation just north of Crosshill.

For many years as I drove by this hill of gravel on a farm near Crosshill in Mennonite country, I thought that this would make a good subject. I had taken numerous photos of this sculptural bit but only now when I rediscovered it in my files did I decide to act. I am so fortunate that when I was younger I photo’d so many bits of countryside that I can now use so many years later.
