Grand River across from Kaufman’s Flats

Painting Description

During 1979, realizing that the area around and across from Kaufman’s Flats was about to change once again, I determined to do some plein air paintings along this picturesque stretch of the Grand River. At that point in time, the river banks were recreational lands. This was before R.I.M. Park but long after the several grist and lumber mills that balanced at the river’s edge. Remains of one of the old dams are still visible at the foot of the Kaufman’s Flats road.
