Godmersham Park
Painting Description
In 1998, we were privileged to spend four months in Kent, the Garden of England. Watching Spring spread across this area in the South-east was shocking for Canadians used to the terribly slow progress of Spring at home. We often visited Sissinghurst Gardens that were only two miles away, but we also made a concerted effort to visit and revisit many other grand gardens all over Kent and into Sussex. The strength of the colour in these gardens was so intense that at times, with the green grass and the blue sky, the colour resembled a postcard from the 1950”s when colour was artificial looking.
