Painting Description

This painting is the first in what I intend to be a series of romantic historic re-creations. I propose to take currently existing features that I find in the U.K. and imagine an earlier time. This door in a garden wall reminds me of the Secret Garden. I have added a house from an area in southern England called the New Forest to this Cotswold region garden. We have travelled so much in England searching for romantic views, for places that charm, and gardens that delight. There are of course many spots in England that are industrial, modern and frankly ugly. I ignore those as I pursue the pretty places.
