Former Bridge

Painting Description

When I was a small child this gap was bridged by an old iron structure on the Conestoga Road, north of Waterloo. It was on the path to my Uncle’s farm. About 1960 this bridge was replaced with a modern concrete model. It is hard for me to cross the Conestogo River at this point without thinking back to those earlier days. Perhaps this inclination towards reminiscence is just a function of aging. I do not mind as it layers the sights that I see and makes them richer.
