Following the Tow Horse

Painting Description

A tow horse is used to pull a load of hay up into a mow. Sometimes a large scissors-like apparatus takes bites out of the load of hay while the wagon rests on the barn floor. On other occasions the entire rack, if the wagon box with its full load of hay detaches from the wheels, is elevated by a pulley system up into the mow where it is unloaded. This process allows for a faster transfer of the hay from the wagon into the mow. The power for both these approaches is supplied by the tow horse.
