Flowers with Striped Cloth
Painting Description
Iris from the garden in an auction find, an antique jug, is the subject of this posed still life.
I set up these flowers in a makeshift background on the shelf of my studio on Marshall Street. I am sure that the work of Van Gogh was buzzing the back of my head, although not in style. During the 80’s we had moved into a large house and were keen to fill it with antique treasures, some purchased here at home, some in England.
